Your Guide to Experiencing Oxford Street: Shopping, Dining and more!

Oxford Street is the most iconic road in the City of Westminster. It’s not simply in the heart of London – it is the heart of London. Running from Tottenham Court Road to Marble Arch via Oxford Circus, it is regarded as Europe’s busiest shopping street with thousands of daily visitors. The street is an absolute must-visit during your time in London and this is your guide to experiencing this Oxford Street from shopping to dining and more!

  1. Getting There

Located in the heart of the West End, Oxford Street is easily accessible from the city’s main underground lines. The key stations along Oxford Street include Oxford Circus (Central, Victoria and Bakerloo Lines), Bond Street (Central, Jubilee and Elizabeth Lines), Marble Arch (Central Line) and Tottenham Court Road (Central, Northern and Elizabeth Lines).

There are also multiple bus routes from all over the city that bring you to this famous street.

  1. Shopping Galore

From boutique businesses to flagship stores, Oxford Street has got something for everyone. Shopping opportunities are aplenty and in various price ranges as well. We recommend starting from Marble Arch with London’s favorite affordable fashion store: Primark. Moving down the street you will encounter the biggest branch of Marks & Spencer and the biggest departmental store of Oxford Street – Selfridges. Further down the street, you’ll stumble upon H&M’s flagship store as well as Niketown. But Oxford Street isn’t just all about fashion. You can find a variety of specialty stores as well such as Flying Tiger, The Disney Store, Muji, Whittard and Curry PC World.

  1. Where to Eat

Just as you won’t run out of options to shop at Oxford Street, you also most definitely won’t run out of places to eat on this famous street. Grab a sandwich from good ol’ Pret A Manger or indulge in a traditional British afternoon tea at The Cumberland. Save a buck by buying a value meal at McDonalds or splurge a little to dine at not one but two restaurants by Gordon Ramsay. The sheer variety of places to try will leave you spoilt for choice. For quick fixes while you shop you can also check out the Foodhall at Marks & Spencer or Selfridges.

  1. Where to Stay

While there are some fantastic options to stay on Oxford Street itself, we recommend staying a little away if you want to get some peace and quiet from the bustle of the city. Paddington Station, a short tube ride away from Oxford Street, is a fantastic choice for staying close to where all the action is but also finding some comfortable stays that are tucked away in quieter corners of the city. There’s a variety of hotels near Paddington Station and if comfort is your top priority Royal Eagle Hotel at Craven Road near Paddington is a great choice!

  1. Beyond Shopping

Although world renowned for its shopping, Oxford Street also offers experiences that go beyond shopping. Gaming enthusiasts should stop by at Oxford Street’s gaming Arena – Belong – that is a social space for competitive gamers, social players, as well as the newest and freshest faces in the world of gaming! There’s the Microsoft Experience Centre at Oxford Circus – a tech heaven with a myriad of interactive and product experience zones across three floors. And for admirers of art, there’s The Photographer’s Gallery – UK’s foremost centre for the presentation and exploration of photography.
