A Local’s Guide to the Queensway Neighbourhood

London is divided into the City of London and 32 other boroughs. These are further broken down into diverse neighbourhoods each with their own unique personality. Going beyond these enclaves, Londoners often refer to their locale according to the nearest London “Tube” Underground station. This can sometimes make getting around London a little confusing for a first-time visitor!

Let’s break down the area where the Central Park Hotel Queensway is located.

Where is Queensway, London?

Queensway is a small enclave within the Bayswater neighbourhood in London’s affluent West End. It’s part of the City of Westminster borough along with Paddington, Marylebone, Mayfair, Soho, and Covent Garden.

What is Queensway famous for?

Queensway was formerly called the Queen’s Road. The street is a half a mile in length and home to independent restaurants, cafes, and shops. It’s a nucleus for everyday life and has a local vibe. Amid the townhomes and flats, there are a handful of boutique accommodations including the Central Park Hotel Queensway.

Queensway is the location of one of London’s earliest department stores. Whiteleys was installed in a beautiful art deco building and opened in 1911. This shopping complex has recently been repurposed as a luxury condominium residence.

Public transport in Queensway

Despite its small size, there are two London Underground stations on Queensway.

Bayswater sits at the junction with Moscow Road and is served by the Circle and District lines. Queensway stands at the meeting point with Bayswater Road and is served by the Central Line.

This makes getting around London from the Central Park Hotel Queensway extremely easy and convenient.
