Activities, Festivals & Events in London in June 2024

June is the best month to visit London. Marking the onset of summer, the weather is warmer and drier and the days grow longer. It’s also the “calm before the storm” as tourism picks up in the middle of July and sees rooms at all hotels near Central London book out. Besides exploring the beautiful parks and dipping into the museums, these are the best events in London in June 2024.

Birds: Brilliant & Bizarre (24 May-5 January 2025)

Birds: Brilliant & Bizarre is the new headliner exhibition at the Natural History Museum that has just launched. You’ll have to “swoop” up your tickets before checking into our London hotels near the city’s favourite museum as everyone’s “flocking” to see it.

Zoo Nights at London Zoo (7 June-26 July)

Zoo Nights is the reincarnation of the Zoo Lates programme that ran a couple of years ago. Animal enthusiasts are invited to the zoo after hours for street food, cocktails, live music, and educational talks. The event runs on Friday nights all month and requires an advance ticket. As an adults-only event, this is the perfect date night for a romantic weekend at our boutique London hotels.

London Open Gardens Weekend (8-9 June)

Over 100 hidden spaces will be open to the public as part of this weekend event. Participating gardens include Cadogan Place, Hanover Gardens, Hyde Park Square, Inner Temple Garden, and the  Tate Modern Community Garden. Opening hours vary and some require advance booking via the London Open Gardens website.

Marylebone Summer Festival (9 June)

Paddington Street Gardens will host the 20th Marylebone Summer Festival complete with a farmers market, dog photobooth, and mini golf course. It’s free to attend and fun for all ages.

Hampton Court Palace Festival (11-22 June)

The grounds of this Tudor palace are being taken over by musicians including Jessie J, Tom Jones, and Paloma Faith. There will also be a one-off live edition of “The Rest is History Podcast presents The Tudors” as part of the festival. Tickets are selling fast so you’ll have to snap up the remaining allocation fast.

West End LIVE (22-23 June)

This two-day event brings the spectacle of the West End Theatre District to Trafalgar Square. Scenes from beloved musicals and stage shows are performed free of charge. The line-up for 2024 includes Disney’s The Lion King, Sister Act, Hamilton, and Mamma Mia! Admission is first come, first served. The event is also available to live steam from the comfort rooms in our London hotels.

Kew Midsummer Fete (22 June)

This family-friendly event captures the essence of a traditional Victorian village green fun fair. There will be fairground rides, amusements, food and drink stalls, live music, and wholesome contests.

British Summer Time Hyde Park (28 June-15 July)

This annual music festival starts at the end of June. An orchestra presented by Myleen Klass and Kings of Leon supported by Paolo Nutini marks the grand opening of British Summer Time Hyde Park. Our hotels near Central London are the closest places to stay near the stage.
