London is a popular destination with families of different shapes and sizes. Small families and big families, young families and those with adult children can explore the city’s cultural attractions and culinary scene. But where better to bond and relax than a beautiful green space? These are the most local parks near our hotels in Central London to spend time with family.
Hyde Park is right across the road from the Central Park Hotel, Bayswater. London’s largest royal park in Zone 1 is popular with local families, couples, and young professionals as well as tourists. It wraps around two picturesque lakes where boating and lido swimming is possible in summer. There is ample space to lay down a blanket for a picnic. Otherwise, you can follow the trails past the monuments and enjoy watching the swans.
The Italian Gardens is one component of Hyde Park although it feels like a separate entity. This small area comprises water features and statues modelled on Italian design. It’s a beautiful place to take photos with your family and enjoy a moment of silence.
This landscaped park has a lake inhabited by pelicans and other birdlife. It’s radiant in spring and golden in autumn. Summer is ideal for a balmy picnic whereas winter is perfect for a crisp walk with views of Buckingham Palace from the bridge. This park is slightly more suitable for a picnic than the neighbouring Green Park although together they provide a wonderful family walk.
Often overlooked by those visiting London, Battersea Park is one of the loveliest parks south of the river. In addition to stretching out on the grass with an ice cream, you can rent a boat on the lake in summer and take younger children to the petting zoo. Walk through the pretty gardens to the riverside Peace Pagoda. It was dedicated in honour of the Buddha. Guests of the Central Park Hotel in Bayswater seeking an adrenaline rush may book a family outing to the canopy climbing course at Go Ape.
Holland Park is a peaceful and lesser-known park in the West End close to our family-friendly hotels in Central London. The Japanese-style Kyoto Garden, Dutch Garden, and Rose Garden are the highlights whereas the Orangery is a spectacular sight. This mansion is used for private events and conferences.
Regent’s Park is where you’ll find ZSL London Zoo, a popular attraction for families in London. The Queen Mary’s Rose Garden is best visited in summer. This is also the season for boating and catching an open-air theatrical performance. Conclude your visit with sunset at Primrose Hill.
Kildare Gardens is just one example of a garden square close to the Central Park Hotel, Bayswater. These are small parks with benches, trees, plants, and lawns. They’re available to local residents who do not have a garden or their own – some are private for tenants whereas others are public. Kildare Gardens is one such example but you will find plenty more hidden around the neighbourhood.
