Top adventurous spots near Central London

London is an invigorating city for many reasons. However, if you’re looking for even more stimulation beyond the museums, parks, restaurants, and shops – these are some exciting attractions in London for adventurous travellers staying at our hotels near Central London.

Speedboat Tours on the Thames

The River Thames isn’t just a means of getting from A to B or taking beautiful photos. Speedboats operate on the waterway and provide an adrenaline-filled experience for all ages. Thamesjet services depart from the Westminster Pier whereas Thames Rockets leave from London Eye Waterloo Pier and the Thames RIB Experience from Embankment Pier. It’s wise to pre-book during summer using the secure internet connection at Central Park Hotel Bayswater.

The Slide at the ArcelorMittal Orbit

Originally built as a lookout tower, the ArcelorMittal Orbit is part of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London. The attraction was reimagined in 2016 as the world’s tallest and longest slide. It’s fully covered but has a transparent design for ogling the views the whole way down. Ride the Slide will reopen in the summer of 2024 following essential maintenance work. Advance reservations are recommended to avoid disappointment.

Up at The O2

If you have a head for heights and love for golden hour, make a sunset reservation for Up at The O2. This activity takes you for a guided climb across The O2 arena (formerly the Millennium Dome). Once at the summit, you’ll enjoy views across the river to Canary Wharf and the City of London. Climbs take part throughout the day and must be booked in advance.

The Dare Skywalk at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Some guests of the Central Park Hotel Bayswater may find the thought of catching a Premier League match thrilling – others will disagree. All appetites can now be met thanks to the Dare Skywalk at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This is a 90-minute stroll across a glass walkway on the roof with city skyline and pitch views. You can even upgrade the experience to include The Edge whereby you’ll dangle over the ledge before being lowered down to ground level.

Go Ape

Go Ape is a treetop assault course challenge with outposts in Alexandra Palace, Battersea Park, and Trent Country Park (Cockfosters). You’ll complete a sequence of rope climbs, floating climbing frames, and zip wires. The Trent Park Go Ape also has a Tarzan Swing for the bravest adventurers. Note the height requirements before taking children to any of the Go Ape centres and do purchase your tickets online in advance.

Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park is just one of the theme parks available as a day trip to guests of our hotels near Central London. This theme park has such white-knuckle roller coasters as Stealth, Nemesis Inferno, and Saw: The Ride. In between these, you can ride the water rapids and other thrilling rides. Note Thorpe Park is pitched at older children, teenagers, and adults. To get there, take a train from London Waterloo to Staines and catch the bus to the park.
